This page provides general information and instructions for faculty and adjunct on how to order complimentary copies (sometimes referred to as "review" or "examination" or "desk" copies) of textbooks from academic publishers. Academic publishers are often willing to send a review copy, free of charge*, to faculty who are considering using the textbook for assigned readings in their courses. Consult the publisher website to ascertain complete details and instructions. Most of the publishers expect the requested text to be used for a present or future course. Therefore, be prepared to provide course details.
Library staff are unable to request examination or desk copies on behalf of the faculty. We are, however, happy to assist you in locating publisher information. Below are some links to commonly-used publishers regarding the ordering of these book copies. If you do not see the information you need or have further quesitons, please do not hesitate to contact us.
*Publishers may have varying requirements in order to request a desk copy; please see each publisher directly for complete details.
