Finding Ayurveda Resources on the Web

As Ayurveda is often not well covered in databases that focus on conventional medicine, web searching may be appropriate for your research.  However, when searching online, you need to critically evaluate the results in order to ensure the information you find is relevant and reliable.  These tips will help you use web resources appropriately.

Video: Evaluating Web Sources

Criteria for Evaluating Websites

As we say in the library: "the good thing is anyone can create a website; the bad thing is anyone can create a website." The quality of resources on the Web varies greatly and it's up to you to assess the sources and information you find. Here are some criteria to consider:

  • Who runs the website?
  • Who funds the site?
  • What is the site's purpose?
  • Where does the information come from?
  • How is the information selected?
  • How current is the information?
