Who better to ask for tips on using the library than Samara Elaine Gonzalez. Having graduated with a Master of Science in Nutrition (research focus) in 2020, she had many pearls to share. Last year, she presented her thesis at the Seattle Tilth Alliance, Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine where she placed second for student poster presenters, and American Society for Nutrition conferences. In addition, she was a highly valued library assistant and we’re grateful for her service. Here is what she shared:

The library has been a tremendous help to me throughout my time at BU and even after graduation when I had two more thesis presentations. I’d like to highlight that I have a resourceful nature and feel comfortable leaning on librarians for help, even if I’m not quite sure what I need help with or even where to start. The library’s resources can be used at literally any stage of a project or assignment; for brainstorming, editing, gathering information (research!), finalizing, and re-inventing an entire project.

Well said and thank you, Elaine! One of the most important takeaways is being comfortable asking a librarian for help even if you’re not entirely sure of what you need. Oftentimes, by doing that, the next steps become clearer. And don’t forget, librarians love to be asked questions!
