Kristen is employed in the Library at Bastyr California as a Library Student Research Fellow. Her core duties include daily maintenance and organization of the library’s collection. She consistently supports faculty research and her work load has never wavered despite campus closures. As a research fellow, she has taken her learning above and beyond what other students learn in their academic programs. She’s completed her training in the CITI Program (collaborative institutional training initiative) taking on additional CITI modules beyond what’s required. Also, she works tirelessly with some faculty collaborating with international researchers working on a research protocol studying the effects of honey on Coronavirus and other respiratory tract infections. She’s crafted complex search strategies for the research team, contributed to the editing and submission of a Prospero protocol, and produced a research proposal on the team’s work for the 2020 AIHM conference.
All of the Student Research Fellows maintain research logs online and Kristen does a great job interfacing with the other posts to keep a good community feel. She is always accessible and quick to respond. She is dedicated to learning, willing to share with others and has clear communication skills. She is a reliable and excellent student ambassador for the library and has taken on the additional role for being the NMSA BUC Veteran’s Affair Representative. As one of three highly trained Library Research Fellows, she works tirelessly on her projects, is diligent, insightful and curious as we work together to support scholarly communications on campus – both in the classroom and out, online and offline.
On behalf of the Library and the Student Employee of the Month Committee, we would like to thank you, Kristen, for your tremendous work supporting research, scholarship and dissemination, and representing the Library and the University. Well done!
Congratulations Kristen! A well-deserved recognition of all your work, not just this month, but all year!
