Welcome to the Bastyr University Libraries!

The BU Libraries are located on campus in Kenmore, WA and San Diego, CA, and serve to provide access to and delivery of university-level sources and library instruction to students, faculty, and staff in support of the research and instructional mission of Bastyr University.

Mission

The mission of the Bastyr University Libraries is to support the educational aims and objectives of the university in fulfilling its wider mission to educate future leaders in the natural health arts and sciences. This includes the goal of broadening public awareness of holistic approaches to health. The libraries serve students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the wider community.

Library Policies

• The circulating collection is available for checkout to current students, faculty, staff and alumni.
• Access to the electronic resources are available on and off campus to current students, faculty and staff.
• During normal operating hours, physical and electronic resources are available to members of the public or unaffiliated researchers. 
• Patrons can check their account via their library catalog profile - it shows check-outs, due dates, and renewal options.
• Resources can be returned at drop-boxes if the library is closed. 
• There are no late fines, but once a resource is more that 3 months late, it will be considered lost and you will be asked to replace it, or be billed for a replacement.
• We offer inter-library loan for articles, this service is available to current students, faculty and staff.  

Donation Policy

The Bastyr University library will accept book and media donations in good condition and within the scope of our curriculum.  Please contact the library if you are considering making a donation.  We are unable to accept gifts that have not been approved in advance.

Library Advisory Group

The Library Advisory Group (LAG) meets quarterly and serves to ensure that collection and service decisions are informed by, and communicated to, the wider campus community.  The LAG has representatives from all academic departments, as well as selected administrative leaders.  The LAG also invites other campus stakeholders on an ad hoc basis, depending on the agenda.

In addition to the LAG, the library updates the Library Website with collections, services, and events news, and shares regular resources, tips, and success stories through the library blog - we send out quarterly emails with updates on hours and any significant changes, but for those who want to see more detailed updates, the blog is where we share interesting but non-essential information with you!
